G1FEF-2 DXSpider Cluster Node

The DX Cluster node I run uses the DXSpider software written by DIRK Koopman, G1TLH. You can read about the software and how to install, configure and use it on the Wiki page for DXSpider.

The node I run is kept up to date with the latest release of DXSpider, there is a script that runs overnight to check for new versions and automatically updates and reloads. The system it runs on is a VM (Virtual Machine) running in a UK datacenter with multi-gigabit connectivity, the server is backed up every night in case of any issues the VM can be restored in minutes. I also keep the Keplerian elements database up to date by checking once every 24 hours for any updates and loading them when available.

G1FEF-2 is linked to several other sources of information such as qrz.com and www.ik3qar.it for you to do lookups. It is also connected to the RBN (Reverse Beacon Network) so you can view the spots heard by the automatic skimmers, just type in:

set/skimmer

Your screen will quickly fill up with data! To stop viewing the RBN data just type in:

unset/skimmer
