I run a DX Cluster node using the DXSpider software written by Dirk Koopman – G1TLH. You can read more on the Wiki page for DXSpider.
User connections
If you would like to connect as a user you can point your DX Cluster client software at: dxc.hamserve.uk on port 7300 or just telnet to the node, for example from most *nix operating systems you can do:
telnet dxc.hamserve.uk 7300
When you connect you will be presented with a “Login:” prompt, just enter your call sign and press Enter. The node will introduce itself, then you will start to receive spots.
If you would like to send spots form my node, I ask that you register with me first, this is just to stop the spam that occasionally blights the DX Cluster network. You can register by using the contact form on this website, or by emailing: dxc @ g1fef.co.uk
Please let me know your call sign, contact email address and first name, I will then email you back once you are registered, the next time you connect you will be able to send spots, you do this with the ‘dx’ command:
dx (frequency) (callsign) (remarks)
Where frequency is in kilohertz and ‘callsign’ is the call sign of the station you have worked or heard, (ie not your own call sign!). The remarks section allows you to add information like the operators name or perhaps a location.
For example:
dx 14004 ve3abc Heard in VA
This will send a spot out over the DX Cluster network to advise that you heard the call sign VE3ABC on 14.004MHz with the remark/comment “Heard in VA”.
The first time you connect after you have been registered, please take a moment to set your personal details, so that other’s on the DX Cluster network know who you are:
set/name Chris
set/qth High Wycombe, England IO91PO
set/location 51 36 N 0 42 W
set/qra IO91PO
set/home g1fef-2
I don’t enforce passwords on my node, however they are a good idea. If you would like a password setting please mention this when you register (or if you have already registered let me know) and I will set one for you. Once a password has been set you can change it by entering the following command:
set/password
Node connections
If you are a sysop for another node on the DX Cluster network and you would like to connect to G1FEF-2 please get in touch and I will be happy to setup a connection for you.
